Alexandra Cottage - Studio with amazing views!
Alexandra Cottage offers a romantic getaway with spectacular, unobstructed and breathtaking views of the Caribbean and surrounding islands. This cottage is located on Pocket Money Lane, a private cul-de-sac. The town of Cruz Bay and the ferry dock are .4 miles from the cottage. The cottage has a King size bed, one bathroom, is fully air conditioned, has Starlink Wi-Fi , which is extremely high-speed and always available, and an automatic generator.
As you arrive at Alexandra cottage, the lush Caribbean landscaping welcomes you to your home away from home. The private stairway leads to this beautiful hidden cottage with its own private entrance. The bedroom is designed to capture the beauty St John has to offer with large glass windows where one can wake up and gaze toward St Thomas and the beautiful views. There is also a sliding glass door that leads from the bedroom onto the side deck. A new addition with a washing machine and clothes dryer was completed in October 2022.
Alexandra cottage has 1000 square feet of living space with Carrera white marble flooring. The cottage has an open floor plan with a fully equipped kitchen, including a refrigerator, microwave, blender, coffee maker, cook top and toaster. The living room area is furnished with a queen sleeper sofa and features a comfortable chair, Smart TV, and a dining table with bar stool chairs. The bathroom is spacious with a white ceramic bowl sink and a walk in, large blue tiled shower.
The deck surrounding one side of the cottage features a sitting area with a Weber grill, a bistro set table and chairs for outdoor dining. There is also a patio off the back of the cottage where one can relax after a day at the beach on the two chaise lounges. Sit back and admire the beautiful sunset and the lights twinkling across the Caribbean waters.
The cottage has a generator for any power outages that might occur on island. The cottage is fully air conditioned and has ceiling fans throughout. Taxis/Cabs will provide transportation if needed for the short ride to Cruz Bay. However, we suggest renting a vehicle to see the island and enjoy town and the beaches. Some guests do walk to town and back, but it is not for everyone. Please note that the cottage is accessible via steep stairs, which may be difficult for individuals with mobility limitations.
We also provide trash service twice a week. There is no trash removal on St John. Normally all trash must be brought to the local dumpsters on the island.

This was the first time to the USVI and St. John for my wife and I for our 15th anniversary celebration. After looking at dozens of condos planning our trip, my wife found Karen and Dan's cottage and we knew right away that this was the perfect space to spend our week on the island. The location was perfect for us, close to Cruz Bay for convenience yet far enough up on the hill to provide a beautiful view and nice quiet evenings. We appreciated the extra little touches that the space had to offer; nice beach chairs, beach towels, beach bag, coolers, umbrellas, etc. Not to mention the welcome basket full of snacks that we enjoyed on our many beach days. It was also very nice that the unit has a good AC unit which does a great job cooling the space quickly. The automatic generator was also very handy since the island did experience a few power outages during our stay which went unnoticed at the cottage. We were lucky enough to meet Karen and Dan our last full day there and they are genuinely the nicest people who care deeply about your experience. We are already planning our next trip to St. John to bring more of our family after an amazing week 1/30/26 to 2/6/26.
This was our first visit to St John. We chose the perfect little villa to stay in! Everything you need is there (& maybe some things you didn't think of!) Everything you need for a beach day is there: chairs, towels, coolers, Neso tent..... Kitchen stocked with dishes, appliances & spices. Yes, there's no oven, but you're on vacation!!! Agree with the other reviews that the stairs are a cardio workout. But, if you are staying on this island, it seems most stairs at places to stay will be! Unless you are super fit, I wouldn't walk into town. We parked at the place we rented our car from and walked in town. Easy walk; worked perfectly. This quiet little villa was perfect for a young, empty nester couple. Plenty of room. Super comfy bed (and I'm picky about bed comfort). Easily had breakfast and packed snacks/sandwiches to go for the day. Quiet but close to town. I will say the sign for the villa does sit back off the road (it's not right on the side of the road), so if someone is parked on the side of the road, it's easy to miss; like we did! (It's the next spot past Americo) We had absolutely no problems staying here and have already talked about staying here again :) The only downside is if you aren't fit enough to do some steep stairs you may have issues. Otherwise, everything is as exactly as pictured. Loved our stay with zero problems and the best hosts! Thank you :)
Stunning views and very thoughtfully stocked! We had everything we needed and the home was so very clean! We had an incredible stay and will certainly stay again!
Thank you Heather! It was a pleasure hosting you. We look forward to seeing you again sometime soon.
This cottage is in a great location, seconds from downtown Cruz Bay. But, it is surrounded by tons of greenery, and iguanas! The unit has everything you need for a getaway stay. Parking is easy. The newly added laundry in the villa was a great amenity, we washed our towels just about everyday! The view is amazing, great for watching a good sunset. The only caution would be the number of stairs to get down from the parking to the villa. They are not for someone with a bad knee, etc. I cannot wait to stay here again!
Thank you Lauren! We are so happy you had a nice stay at the cottage. It is a beautiful spot. We look forward to hosting you again soon!
This was our second time staying, and it was even better than the first! The washer and dryer was such a nice addition. The villa is so clean, and the views are amazing. Karen is super helpful and easy to contact. Can’t wait to comeback to STJ.
Thank you so much Kristen. We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay at the cottage.
We loved our stay at Alexandra Cottage. It was even better than the photos online. Meticulously clean. The bed was very comfortable. The decor is bright and island themed. The whole cottage interior is bright and airy. Amenities are great. Plenty of dishes and appliances. No oven but loved the coffee beans and grinder. The porch overlooking Cruz Bay and both ferry docks is magnificent. The property is stunning with several colors of bougainvillea in bloom. Lots of bananaquits and hummingbirds in the trees. Be sure to be a nosey guest, you'll find that there are very useful goodies (sunscreen, bug spray, cards). My one wish is that we had found them prior to packing up on our last morning. Be sure to have a way to get your trash to a dumpster, the taxis won't take you with it.
What a magical place tucked in straight up the hill from Cruz Bay. The quiet solitude and beautiful views was enough to just hang out and rest after a long day of adventure exploring the island and beaches. The host is quick to answer questions and was very helpful. Best birthday ever!
Thank you Sherry, I am so happy you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. We look forward to hosting you again in the future!
This cottage was perfect for our first trip to St. John. We loved the proximity to town and the beaches. We had coffee and lunch on the porch almost every day and it was amazing to wake up to that gorgeous view every morning. This cottage has everything two people could need. All the amenities in a private quiet place. We loved it and we’ll be back for sure.
Thank you Holli, we are thrilled you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and that you enjoyed visiting our beautiful island. Come back again soon!
My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in this quiet, perfect retreat. It is a 5 minute drive into Cruz bay where there is shopping, food and excursions! We loved that Karen and Dan left beach chairs, beach bag with towels, cooler and cooler packs, and snorkel gear! The welcome basket was a very thoughtful touch.
Thank you Rory, what a perfect place to spend your anniversary! We are so happy that you enjoyed the cottage and the amenities. Come back soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Alexandria Cottage. Karen and Dan offer a fabulous place to stay! It is a bit difficult to find, but Karen went above and beyond and talked us through the directions! The cottage was clean, and the amenities offered were perfect for our stay. Having access to the neighboring cottages was a definite bonus! The stairs/path from the driveway to the cottage could be challenging as it is steep and long. Just something to be aware of if you have any restrictions/limitations. We called walking the stairs/path our daily cardio!! The views from the cottage are absolutely gorgeous! Loved our stay and highly recommend Alexandria Cottage!
Thank you Kelly, we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at the cottage! We hope to see you again soon.

We fell in love with St John on our first trip in Aug 2017. On the third day of vacation, we looked at each other and said "We must come back here as soon as we can" and then we asked ourselves "Do you think we could live here?" Hurricanes Irma and Maria hit soon after that and we fell even more in love after witnessing the tight knit community come together to recover and help one another. We knew this was where we belonged. We sold our house in New England and moved full time to the island in August 2021. We are home.
